Charity Care at Chicago Non-For-Profit Hospitals

Because I mentioned it on Twitter in regards to a press release I received, here’s the most recent data on the percentage of charity care given at Chicago non-for-profit hospitals in relation to net revenue. All of this data can be obtained from the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center: 2.5 percent.

Children’s Memorial Hospital: 0.2 percent.

Holy Cross Hospital: 8.1 percent.

Jackson Park Hospital: 3.3 percent.

John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County: 23.4 percent. 

LaRabida Children’s Hospital: 0.9 percent.

Loretto Hospital: 10.3 percent.

Louis Weiss Memorial Hospital: 1.3 percent.

Mercy Medical Center: 1.4 percent.

Methodist Hospital: 1.7 percent. 

Mount Sinai Hospital: 9.3 percent. 

Northwestern Memorial Hospital: 2.9 percent. 

Norwegian American: 4.4 percent.

Our Lady of Resurrection: 2.6 percent.

Provident Hospital of Cook County: 56.3 percent. 

Resurrection Medical Center: 0.9 percent. 

Roseland Hospital: 1.4 percent. 

Rush University Medical Center: 1.8 percent.

Swedish Covenant Hospital: 2.1 percent.

St. Anthony: 6 percent.

St. Bernard: 8.1 percent.

St. Joseph’s Hospital: 0.8 percent.

Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center: 0.5 and 2.1 percent respectively. 

Thorek Memorial Hospital: 2.1 percent.

University of Chicago Medical Center: 1.1 percent. 

University of Illinois Medical Center: 2.4 percent.
